Allison graduated from the University of Bristol in 1997. Since then, she has completed an MSc in Wild Animal Health at the RVC/Institue of Zoology; a PhD in Feline Virology and Vaccinology at the University of Bristol; a Postdoctoral Scientist position in Molecular Virology and Zoonoses at the University of Liverpool and a Cats Protection Lectureship in Feline Health and Welfare at the University of Liverpool. During this role, she worked at the Small Animal Teaching Hospital on the Internal Medicine Service; taught infectious diseases and internal medicine to veterinary students; investigated the molecular epidemiology of feline rotavirus in the UK cat population and characterised a culture system for feline adipocytes.
She currently works in Internal Medicine at a private referral hospital in St Helens and runs a peripatetic service for Endoscopy and Internal Medicine in the North West and North Wales. Her interests are in endoscopy, infectious diseases, gastroenterology, shelter medicine – and all things to do with feline medicine! She is currently learning to speak Toyger following the addition of Maya, her crazy kitten, to the household.
