Noema graduated as a doctor of veterinary medicine from the University of Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy in Košice, Slovakia, in 2016. In 2021, she defended her PhD thesis on the risk factors of behavioural problems in cats and social play, which was conducted in collaboration with the University of Lincoln, United Kingdom.

Currently, she continues her feline-focused research as a postdoctoral researcher at her home university in Slovakia while also participating in various international research projects and groups. Noema supervises the Cat Care Club at the University of Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy in Košice—a club for veterinary students engaged in feline medicine and behaviour—and hosts her own Slovak podcast about cats called “Mačkast”. This personal initiative was recognized as one of the world’s 50 best science engagement projects within Falling Walls Engage platform in 2021.

In addition to her cat-oriented activities, Noema is professionally interested in veterinary communication and law. She believes that human behaviour change is crucial for improving cat welfare.
