Caitlin Tzounos, BVSc, DipECVS, graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2009 with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science. Commencing her career in mixed practice in Gippsland, Caitlin enjoyed the variety but knew that specialisation was her professional aim. Her professional journey to specialisation included general practice, anatomy demonstrating at the University of Melbourne School of Veterinary Science, and an internship at the Royal Veterinary College in the UK. Subsequently, Caitlin undertook a residency in Small Animal Surgery at Dick White Referrals in Cambridgeshire. Caitlin was successfully admitted as a Diplomat of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons in February 2022. After returning to Australia Caitlin worked in Melbourne and Geelong before joining Melbourne Animal Specialist Hospital in November 2023. Caitlin has a strong interest in soft tissue surgery, in particular thoracic, hepatic and urinary tract surgery, and is dedicated to continuous learning to provide gold standard care to every patient. Caitlin has published on portosystemic shunts in cats.
