Alejandra completed her veterinary medicine degree at Universidad Central del Ecuador in 2012. She pursued a residency in small animal medicine with a focus on internal medicine, emergency, and critical care at Hospital Veterinario de Santiago, Chile from 2013 to 2015. Alejandra then undertook a rotating internship and internal medicine residency at the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna from 2015 to 2021.
From May to July 2021, she served as a senior clinician in intensive care at the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna. Since December 2021, Alejandra works as a senior clinician in internal medicine at the Small Animal Clinic of the University of Bern. In February 2023, she started a PhD in feline infectious peritonitis.
