Andrew graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 1983. After four years in general practice he joined Bristol University, initially as International Cat Care Feline Resident, then as a PhD student, and then as International Cat Care Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Feline Medicine. In 2000, Andrew moved to the Animal Health Trust to establish their Feline Centre, where he subsequently became Head of Small Animal Studies. In 2012 Andrew was appointed the Veterinary Director of International Cat Care and the International Society for Feline Medicine (ISFM) and then in 2019 he became an independent consultant. He is the founding and current co-editor of the Journal of Feline Medicine and Surgery.
