Despite the uncertainty caused by the coronavirus, the first International Society of Feline Medicine’s (ISFM) UK Congress was well attended by delegates from across the UK and abroad. The congress took place over two days in the picturesque setting of the Cotswolds at Heythrop Park Resort.
The intention with this congress was to provide the best value for money with wide ranging subject matter and practical advice that can be put to good use in busy clinics. There were both nursing and veterinary streams, with experts giving talks on cytology, dentistry, behavior, road traffic collision cases, wounds, nutrition and respiratory disease. Alongside the lectures were two practical demonstrations of dental radiography for vets and nurses. There were also two full rooms of exhibitors where the latest products and services were on display.
Alongside the excellent CPD, the congress gave delegates ample opportunity to socialise, relax and enjoy themselves. On the evening of the first day of lectures, delegates enjoyed a 1920s themed dinner party complete with a live band playing music from that period right up to the modern day. On the Saturday morning a fully booked yoga session set attendees up for the second day of talks.
The conference wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our sponsor, Royal Canin.
The dual streams of vet and nurse talks, and the wide range of topics, were a winning formula for vets and nurses looking to make the most of their annual CPD, and the delegates left with a comprehensive and practical understanding of topics they’ll encounter in practice.
The feedback received from the delegates reflects the excellent value, enjoyable atmosphere and stunning setting that have become synonymous with ISFM congresses. One delegate said ‘Quite difficult to pick out what I liked best; it was all so good; the venue, the speakers, the subjects. You certainly seem to have got it just right.’ Another summed the congress up by saying ‘Enjoyable and useful 2 days, looking forward to next year’ and another said simply ‘Really had a great time, will be back next year!’
