Can cats spread the new coronavirus?

With the current outbreak of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), there has been some speculation as to whether dogs or cats can become infected. However, the latest information from the World Health Organisation (WHO) is that there is absolutely no evidence that dogs or cats can be infected with the new coronavirus. It is however always a good idea to wash your hands with soap and water after contact with pets. This protects you against various common bacteria such as E.coli and Salmonella that can pass between pets and humans.

This is the current advice offered by the World Health Organisation (WHO)
