Thomas Brenten graduated in 1997 from the University of Veterinary Medicine in Hanover, Germany.

He received his doctorate medicine veterinariae from the Free University of Berlin in 2016.

He joined Mars Petcare Europe in 1998 where he worked in various roles primarily within Research & Development. From 2016 to 2021 Thomas has been the key liaison for ISFM in his role as Global Scientific Affairs Manager for Royal Canin. He was able to strengthen the collaboration between the two organizations strongly promoting the international deployment of the Cat Friendly Clinic and the Cat Care for Life programs. Since September 2021 he holds the position as Head of Research & Development for Saturn Petcare GmbH in Germany.

Thomas has a special interest in pet nutrition and is a member of the European Society of Veterinary and Comparative Nutrition (ESVCN). Since 2006 Thomas is actively engaged in trade association work. Since 2014 he chairs the FEDIAF Nutrition Working Group and has been co-chair of the GAPFA Nutrition Workstream from 2014 to 2022.

Outside work Thomas and his family are passionate pet lovers, owning dogs, cats, horses, ponies, chicken, ducks, and birds.
