In the pink: Bristol feline elective students

This year's University of Bristol Feline Elective ran for three weeks in Langford Veterinary Services’ Feline Centre. The seven final year veterinary students all spent time in the Feline Centre, attended a variety of seminars with guest speakers and produced a case report on an interesting feline patient they had seen. The students also visited a large Cats Protection shelter to learn first hand about shelter medicine.

International Cat Care sponsored part of the Feline Elective Prize with a year’s membership of the International Society of Feline Medicine (ISFM), its veterinary division; this was won by Jorden Collins, who also received the ‘BSAVA Manual of Feline Practice; a foundation manual’, donated by the BSAVA. A runner-up prize, donated by Dechra, of a Littman stethoscope, was awarded to Richard Sparrow. All students also received superb iCatCare goodie bags, which each included a copy of ISFM’s brand new guide to ‘Feline Stress and Health’. The prize giving took place on April 29, and the occasion was celebrated with feline-themed cakes and cookies baked by the students.
