‘Optimising recovery in feline anaesthesia’ webinar attracts record numbers

A free webinar for veterinary nurses and technicians, run as part of the International Society of Feline Medicine's free nursing membership, attracted a record number of attendees. Nearly 2,000 registrants signed up to watch ‘Optimising recovery in feline anaesthesia' an hour-long webinar presented by Sam McMillan (BSc(Hons) VTS(Anaesthesia/Analgesia) DipAVN(Medical) RVN) on February 15th and supported by Ceva, making it ISFM’s most popular nurse webinar to date.

Over 60% of anaesthetic fatalities in cats occur during the recovery period and the webinar, which is now available to watch on-demand, highlights how recovery can be optimised to avoid fatalities. ISFM received the following feedback from attendees: ‘Superb CPD! One of the best and most informative talks I’ve heard in a long time thank you’, ‘Fab webinar, very interesting, great speaker’, ‘Thank you for the talk. Real food for thought!’, and ‘I have no questions but would like to thank you for your time, this was super helpful.’

ISFM, the veterinary division of the charity International Cat Care, runs monthly webinars for nurses as part of its free nursing membership, which also includes subscription to Feline Focus ISFM’s online monthlynursing journal. Since November 2014, ISFM’s CPD accredited and RACE approved nurse webinars have attracted over 30,000 views. ISFM’s free nursing membership is also going from strength to strength, with membership now approaching 10,000 nurses in 71 different countries, including, Australia, China, South Korea, India, Japan, Thailand, USA, New Zealand, Mexico, Russia, Syria and Peru.

ISFM’s nursing events, offered for the first time this year, have also been a great success. The nursing programme at the ISFM World Feline Congress in Brighton sold out within six weeks but with demand so high, ISFM has secured a larger venue and has reopened booking. ISFM’s pre-BSAVA Feline Symposium nursing programme also sold out within just a few weeks.
