Product recall for toxic flea drops

A recall has been issued after flea and tick treatments for dogs containing permethrin – which is highly toxic to cats – were distributed in packaging labelled as flea drops for cats.

Armitage Flea Drops for Cats and KittensThe Veterinary Medicines Directorate has been notified to warn wholesalers, vets, retailers and pet owners that Bio-Tech Solutions has recalled:

  • Armitage Pet Care Flea and Tick Drops for Dogs 702mg spot-on solution (Vm 20205/4003)
  • Armitage Flea Drops for Cats and Kittens

Exposure to even small quantities of concentrated permethrin can cause severe and fatal poisoning in cats and is one of the most commonly reported poisonings in cats worldwide.

If you have one of the products, you should return it to the place of purchase or contact the company:

John Tharratt of Bio-Tech Solutions on 08704 450154 or email JTharratt@btsl.uk.com
