Last year Beth Haslam and Zoe Marr launched Completely Cats, a project to bring together and publish cat stories from around the world. As committed cat fans, they also wanted to make a positive difference to the lives of cats internationally and so they very kindly chose International Cat Care as the charity that would receive donations from the book once published.
The stories were collected in 2016 and 2017 as part of a worldwide competition which attracted lots of great entries from a range of countries including Australia, Germany, Israel, South African, Oman, Spain and the UK. It was a tough job to select the winners.
International Cat Care was asked to choose its own top story and, after much deliberation, we finally decided on the powerful true tale of Emilio by his owner Eliza Voltz from Germany. Emilio is a much loved cat who suffered terrible injuries in a car accident. No one believed he could survive – let only recover – but his dedicated owner Eliza refused to give up on him.
We chose this story because it is a wonderful demonstration of the values that iCatCare stands for. Committed and compassionate, Eliza never lost sight of what was in Emilio's best interests and worked closely with a team of fantastic vets to make sure that she received the best expert advice. It is a great example of how compassion and knowledge can together achieve quite remarkable results.
Many congratulations to Eliza and all the other contributors to the new anthology.
If you want to read their stories, you'll have to wait just a little longer because the as yet unnamed collection of stories will be out in the summer. We'll keep you updated on this site and you can also check out the Completely Cats blog.
