Distance education organiser with cat behavioural expertise

Based at International Cat Care offices, Tisbury, Wiltshire

Job purpose

To work within our expanding distance education department, helping to build and run our distance education courses and developing new short courses for other cat interested groups, via our online virtual learning environment (VLE) platform (D2L Brightspace). 

Key responsibilities

  • To help build, maintain and develop courses on the VLE platform
  • To contribute to content building and designing assessment activities
  • To help with monitoring of student progress
  • To help, support and communicate with students
  • To provide support to course directors, tutors and markers
  • To collaborate with other colleagues (admin support, markers, finance etc) as needed

International Cat Care is a unique charity concerned with promoting feline health and welfare based in the Wiltshire town of Tisbury (on the main line rail service from London Waterloo). We are a dynamic and innovative medium-sized charity (established in 1958) with a total of 20 people currently based in the office. The charity has a veterinary division known as the International Society of Feline Medicine. Four other staff in the office work full or part time on distance education which is an important strategic growth area for the charity which has invested in a state of the art VLE platform (Brightspace).

Person profile

We are looking for an enthusiastic and positive animal behaviour graduate who is able to work effectively as part of a small team. General knowledge of feline behaviour is essential and clinical feline behaviour (ie problem behaviour) knowledge would be advantageous.

A high level of literacy with an attention to detail and good computer skills are essential, alongside a willingness to learn our new VLE platform.  Having experience in the education field, would be an advantage. We are looking for someone who is keen to develop a career in feline education and who is sympathetic to the ethos of the charity.

Other information

This is a full time job based in the Tisbury office with 5 weeks of holiday (some to be taken over the Christmas–New Year period) and a 7.5% contribution to a pension group scheme.

Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
