International Cat Care (icatcare.org) is a unique charity concerned with promoting feline health and welfare based in the Wiltshire town of Tisbury (on the mainline rail service from London Waterloo). We are a dynamic and innovative medium-sized charity (established in 1958) with 20 people currently based in the office. The charity has a veterinary division known as the International Society of Feline Medicine (ISFM), with currently 3000 veterinary members in 65 countries.
Our veterinary titles are the official journals of the ISFM, and published in association with SAGE Publications and the American Association of Feline Practitioners. The Journal of Feline Medicine and Surgeryis produced both in print and online, and is among the top international journals of its type. We are marking the 20th anniversary of this popular publication this year. Its sister title, JFMS Open Reports, is an online-only open access case reports journal, launched in 2015. Together, the journals contain high quality clinical research papers, state-of-the-art clinical reviews, practical consensus guidelines and case reports – and are considered to provide the ultimate resource for feline medicine and surgery.
This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate, being able to work closely alongside other professionals with many years of veterinary publishing experience and in a forward-thinking environment. There are prospects for the job to grow as the skills and expertise of the candidate develop.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and positive graduate (life sciences, animal or veterinary science), preferably with a minimum of 1 year’s publishing experience, who is able to work effectively as part of a dynamic team and to take responsibility for tasks under guidance.
A very high level of literacy and an attention to detail are critical, as is the ability to organise, prioritise and meet deadlines. Good computer skills are also important, including familiarity with MS Office. Knowledge of the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite and Quark would be advantageous.
Our new colleague will be sympathetic to the ethos of the charity.
