I graduated from The Royal Veterinary College, London (RVC). I did an orthopaedic residency at the RVC and gained my RCVS Diploma in Small Animal Surgery (Orthopaedics) in 1997 and the ECVS Diploma in Small Animal Surgery in 1999. I then spent six months at the University of Pennsylvania in 1998 before moving back to the UK and working at Cambridge University as the University Surgeon until 2013. I have been a Professor in Small Animal Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Bristol since 2013. I was awarded the BSAVA Simon Award in 2012 for outstanding contributions in the field of small animal surgery. I have a particular interest in feline orthopaedics and I run a feline orthopaedic clinic at Bristol. The majority of my case load is feline. I have a particular interest in feline trauma cases and patella luxation and any weird and wonderful bone diseases and arthritis. I am experienced in feline total hip replacement. My research interest is Feline Patella and Dental Anomaly Syndrome (PaDS / KaTS). I have co-edited a textbook on Feline Orthopaedic Surgery and Musculoskeletal Disease in 2009 and Feline Soft Tissue and General Surgery in 2013.
