Marsha is a behavioural biologist with a MSc in behavioural ecology and a PhD on refinement of the care and use of laboratory ferrets, both from Utrecht University (The Netherlands). She has been trained as a cat behaviour specialist through completion of the postgraduate applied animal behaviour at KaHo Sint Lieven (Belgium). Currently, Marsha works at the Dutch animal welfare inspectorate as a policy officer. Marsha stopped doing behaviour consultations as of 2020 to focus all her efforts on cat-related research and education. Together with Dr Esther Bouma, she conducts scientific research in the area of cat behaviour and welfare under the name of the ‘Purr Doctors’.
