Marsha is a behavioural biologist with a MSc in behavioural ecology and a PhD on refinement of the care and use of laboratory ferrets, both from Utrecht University (The Netherlands). She has been trained as a companion animal behaviour specialist through completion of the postgraduate applied animal behaviour at KaHo Sint Lieven (Belgium). Currently, Marsha is a companion animal welfare policy officer at the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality. Marsha did cat behaviour consultations for 10 years, now she focuses all her efforts on cat-related research and education. Together with Dr Esther Bouma, she conducts scientific research in the area of cat behaviour and welfare under the name of the ‘Purr Doctors’.
