Kate King graduated from the University of Sydney in 1980 and went into farm animal practice in western NSW. She opened a solo vet practice in Gilgandra and worked with a wide variety of species for 20 years. Although cats were a minor part of her work she always found them fascinating so when she sold her practice in Gilgandra and moved to Canberra she indulged in the CVE Feline Medicine course and then took the membership exams for the College. Frustration with anxious cats in mixed small animal practice led to her opening the first cat-only hospital in Canberra in 2013. Kate is interested in all aspects of Feline medicine but also spends a lot of time in the dental suite and surgery.
