A senior cat comes in for a second opinion; they are experiencing weight loss, anorexia, vomiting, diarrhoea or combinations thereof. As we all know, these clinical signs are shared by most of the diseases we see in cats of that age group. How do we collect, collate, and analyse information? What is relevant and what is not? In this lecture I will use cases to illustrate how I get to my destination integrating the clinical data, placing emphasis on the haematologic changes.
During this session you will learn how to:
1) Interpret numerical results of the CBC
2) Incorporate graphics from the haematology analyser in the diagnostic process
3) Classify anaemia as regenerative, non-regenerative, or due to iron deficiency
4) Interpret “monocytosis”.
