International Cat Care’s COVID-19 Statement (as of 23rd March 2020)

It is with great sadness that we are cancelling this year’s ISFM European Feline Congress as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak. Like everyone else, we have been watching the rapidly evolving situation unfold and, whilst acknowledging the unpredictability of where we will be by June, we have now reached a point where it is extremely difficult to see a scenario in which we will be able to go ahead. ISFM will endeavour to issue full refunds of all delegate tickets via Eventbrite within the next 21 working days. If you need to contact the Conference and Events team, please email them:

We would, however, like to announce our decision to run an ISFM International Feline Congress as a virtual conference on 8th-10th August 2020 to coincide with International Cat Day. We are asking all of our speakers to record the talks they would have given at Rhodes, so that you can enjoy the same 28 hours of expert content, as well as come together (virtually) to discuss a range of topics. All the talks will be available on-demand from 8th August and will be complemented by a packed 3-day programme of live online chats with speakers, exhibitors and sponsors. Further details including pricing and registration will follow shortly, but we hope you will be excited as we are by what we are planning!

We can also confirm that we will return to Rhodes on 29th June – 3rd July 2022 instead. Don’t forget that we are also hosting the ISFM World Feline Congress in Dublin on 24th – 27th June 2021. Please mark these dates in your diary. We hope the world will have returned to normal by then!

The International Society of Feline Medicine will be in Rhodes, Greece for its 2020 European Feline Congress.

This will be our 19th annual congress, which over the years has evolved into a much-loved and well-respected event on the international CPD calendar.

For 2020, ISFM will bring you the world’s leading experts in emergency medicine, anaesthesia, analgesia, palliative care and ethics. ALL this in one conference!

We’ll explore the identification and management of acute and chronic pain, bring you up to date with sedation and anaesthesia issues specific for our feline patients, explore palliative care and discuss feline specific veterinary ethics.

In addition, there will be masterclasses and several sponsor-led symposia.

Scientific Programme

Feline Emergency Critical Care

Feline Anaesthesia, Analgesia, Ethics

The congress will explore the identification and management of acute and chronic pain, bring you up to date with sedation and anaesthesia issues specific to your feline patients, explore palliative care and discuss feline specific veterinary ethics.

Additionally, our critical care speakers will be discussing topics such as triage, point of care ultrasound, feline specific emergencies as well as nutrition of your sickest patients. This is an opportunity to learn practical techniques and discuss challenging cases with specialists in a unique feline-only conference.

This year there will also be two optional workshops based around business development and mindfulness.

Paulo Steagall will be joined by Lisa Moses to talk through pain management and assessment from sedation to palliative care, whilst Dan Chan and Søren Boysen talk critical care from triage to nutrition.

In addition to the main programme, there will also be three masterclasses, hosted by our fantastic speakers and several sponsor-led symposia.

It’s a fantastic line up with some seriously thought-provoking and inspirational talks.

Call for abstracts

Each year at Congress, we display posters of new and exciting abstracts. The authors of the abstracts are invited to attend the congress at a 50% discount rate (off the member rate) and should be available to present alongside their poster in the breaks during Congress. In addition, the abstracts accepted for the Congress will also be published in an issue of the Journal of Feline Medicine and Surgery (JFMS). The process of submitting an abstract for consideration will be taken as confirmation that all authors have approved the abstract and are willing for it to be published in JFMS.

For full details of the requirements for submitting an abstract click here.

The deadline for submissions is March 15, 2020 and they should be emailed in the requested format to Abi Tansley.
