ProtectaPet for its Cat Fencing Solutions
ProtectaPet has developed a number of solutions for owners who want to let their cats out safely, be it a fence-top barrier or full fence, a freestanding enclosure or a catio (cat patio) or balcony frames. The variety of solutions, components and sizes provide high quality creative fencing for cats and the company is continually adding to its range and seeking the best for cat welfare. International Cat Care recognises the many benefits of providing a safe, enclosed environment for cats (such as safety from road accidents, or predators). While keeping a cat indoors may keep it safe from the dangers of the outdoor world, outdoor access provides stimulation and an increased opportunity for exercise, stimulation and to express natural behaviours.

Coastline Global for Kit4Cat Cat Urine Sample Collection Sand
How do you collect a urine sample from your cat? Most litters are absorbent by design and you will never catch it directly in a pot! Coastline Global from the USA has the solution – a sand which goes in the litter tray and is readily accepted by cats because of its consistency (cats love sand!). This sand is hydrophobic, repelling water so that the cat’s urine actually sits on top of the litter and can be sucked up into a syringe to take to the vet to sample. It is available in 44 countries.

Sure Petcare for SureFlap Microchip Pet Door Connect with Hub
Cat flaps which open triggered by a cat’s microchip are now readily available. International Cat Care gave Sure Petcare a Cat Friendly Award for its microchip cat flap in 2014 because it allowed controlled entry and exit from home for resident cats while preventing the entry of other cats. Now the company is developing its products further and this flap can be connected to the wifi in the house via a Hub which can report back to your phone letting you know when the cat enters or exits. This allows owners to see the cat’s daily routine and lock the door remotely if they wish. Great for cat loving technology lovers but benefical to cats which may need to be shut in for safety reasons or let out if owners are not present.

2017

Catit Senses 2.0 Self Groomer with Catnip from Rolf C Hagen UK
The self groomer provides easy-access rubbing pleasure for cats, while the durable plastic bristles simultaneously remove loose and shedding hair. The brush can be snapped in and out of its frame for simple maintenance. The Catit Self Groomer affixes easily to either flat or corner surfaces and it includes adhesive strips and a supply of catnip.

EasyPill Cat Putty from VetExchange
Provides a highly palatable pliable divisible treat in providing easy administration of medication for cat owners. Hidden within the treat the tablet attaches itself to the putty and provides a useful aid in administration.

Mouth Gag Set from Eickemeyer Veterinary Equipment
Traditionally when cats have been anaesthetised a gag has been used to keep the mouth open that has been spring-loaded – this leads to the mouth being held open very widely which has recently been recognized to cause blindness in some cats. These novel mouth gags consist of two cylinders that can be adjusted via a thread in their length. With this feature the mouth gags can be easily adapted to the mouth of the patient.

Feliscratch by Feliway from Ceva
A synthetic copy of the feline interdigital semiochemical (FIS) naturally produced by cats and deposited on places when they scratch which encourages them to scratch there again. The product is used to redirect scratching behaviour onto a desired location.

DOC and Phoebe’s 5-a-day Feeder from Feline Environmental Enrichment Design Company
An innovative way of feeding cats which is reflective of natural cat feeding behaviour. It improves behavioural health by giving cats opportunities to replicate natural hunting and exploratory and feeding behaviour, reducing obesity, boredom and provide exercise and mental stimulation. The product is in the form of numerous mice which carry the food and can be hidden around the house.

SureFeed Microchip Pet Feeder (SureFlap) opens in response to the cat’s microchip or special collar tag, allowing individual cats to access food or to keep food fresh.

Cat Carrier Tree (Royal Canin) allows cat baskets to be placed off the ground in waiting rooms, helping cats to feel less stressed.

Data from Agria on morbidity and mortality in cats from their insured population is also reported and presented gives back vital information from which we can all lean and progress.

2013

Feliway (Ceva Animal Health) – by mimicking the cat's natural facial pheromones, Feliway creates a state of familiarity and security. It can be used in different situations to help cats to feel more relaxed and reduce anxiety. It is used in veterinary practices, rescue situations, in catteries and in the home.

Hide, Perch and Go box (British Columbia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) – by watching how cats adapted to the highly stressful rescue environment in their first few days, BCSPCA’s Nadine Gourkow came to realise how important it was for cats to have somewhere to hide. By adapting the design of a simple cardboard box they came up with a product which provided somewhere for the cat to hide, or somewhere high to sit, and which could then be adapted to become the box in which the cat went to its new home. Maintaining the scent security which the cat had within the box reduces stress during transition to a new home. Designed around the cat’s need to hide and feel secure, this product marked the beginning of new thinking in rescue.

Feline Fort (Cats Protection) – the Feline Fort takes the concept of hiding and having a high vantage point a little further. It is durable and can be used in different ways in the home, veterinary practice or rescue situation.
