The International Society of Feline Medicine (ISFM), the veterinary division of global cat charity International Cat Care, invites veterinary professionals to see the feline eye from a new perspective at its world-renowned Congress in scenic St Julians, Malta, from 27 – 30 June 2024.
The upcoming Congress, which is themed ‘Eyes are the window to the soul: Feline ophthalmology and systemic conditions with ophthalmological changes’, will feature a stellar line-up of international experts including Paulo Steagall (Anaesthesia & Analgesia), Vanessa Barrs (Feline Medicine & Infectious Diseases), Julia Beatty (Feline Medicine & Infectious Diseases), Ursula Dietrich (Veterinary Ophthalmology) and Renata Stavinohova (Veterinary Ophthalmology) for a multi-disciplinary approach to ophthalmological cases through a cat friendly lens.
Head of ISFM, Nathalie Dowgray, said: “Reduced or absent vision can have a huge impact on a cat’s emotional wellbeing, as well as the pain and discomfort these diseases can often cause. We are excited to bring together experts in ophthalmology, pain, infectious disease and internal medicine to give this important topic the focus our feline patients deserve.”
Exploring everything from practical management of ophthalmic cases to advanced feline medicine and surgery, the extensive scientific programme includes traditional theatre-style lectures, interactive panel discussions, in-depth masterclasses and more! Ensuring all veterinary practitioners leave feeling confident recognising, diagnosing, and managing conditions where ocular changes are a key clinical sign of disease.
Delegates will also be able to create their ‘purr-fect’ Congress experience, with four feline streams in addition to the main plenary sessions; for veterinary professionals who are ‘new’ to cats, advanced practitioners, those who want practical tips to take straight back to the clinic and those interested in shelter medicine.
